Originally designed to connect the cycling routes that insist in different areas of Umbria, the Perugia – Trasimeno Cycling Route deserves to be traveled on itself.
It winds along mostly paved roads alternating with dirt sections of slight difficulty and low traffic intensity, with some crossings on very busy roads, and rejoins in its final stretch the Trasimeno Cycling Route.
From the center of Perugia to the green areas of the suburbs, crossing the territory of the municipality of Corciano, the route then travels through the countryside close to the Trasimeno Mountains in the municipality of Magione to reach Lake Trasimeno arriving near the naturalistic oasis La Valle– which can be visited from May to September – and a few kilometers from the village of San Feliciano, known as the ‘village of sunsets’ with spectacular views of Polvese Island reachable by ferry from the pier of San Feliciano.
