The shores of Lake Trasimeno are rich in nature and wooded areas. The Wood of Ferretto is a site of community interest (SIC) which extends over a total area of approximately 2,527 hectares and has a predominantly flat morphology.
The site is characterized by the presence of extensive woods that represent the last strips of acidophilic lowland forests typical of central Europe which in Umbria are located almost at the southern limit of the range, consequently assuming a high bio-geographical value.
