Monument to the Fallen of the Seaplane Pilots School of the Italian Army
Visible from the lakeside promenade, the monument that emerges from the water in front of the town of Passignano sul Trasimeno represents six intertwined planes, three swooping and three pointing towards the sky. Installed in 1967 in honor of the students of the Italian Army Seaplane Piloting School, it links its history to that of the SAI (Società Aeronautica Italiana) which for more than 50 years has carried out innovative projects of international success, also thanks to the courage and dedication of many pilots, including Ambrogio Colombo and Arturo Ferrarin who died on the banks of the Trasimeno during test flights.
