Built between the 13th and 14th centuries, the church belonged primarily to the Benedictines, to be exact to the Avellanite branch of the Abbey of Santa Croce. Between 1806 and 1808 it was entirely rebuilt by the master builder Vincenzo Possenti from Corciano in an eighteenth-century style, thanks to the economic offers of the wealthy landowner Bernardino Ballarini.
The church has a rectangular plan and is covered with a barrel vault with lunettes.
