Corgna Palace is the most important among the stately homes in Città della Pieve. Its location, in front of the Cathedral Church, is also significant from an urban point of view as it is located on the intersection of the main roads into the town.
The unfinished palace thus reflects the adventurous of the restless Ascanio – Duke della Corgna- protagonist of countless feats of arms. The internal rooms, just like the monumental stairways, have frescoed decorations with grotesques and large mythological and sacred panels. Among the most important rooms is the Governor’s Hall, where the painter known as ‘The Pomarancio’ depicted the glorification of the family Corgna.
