Podestà’s Palace

Podestà’s Palace

Historical place

Walking past the lodgings of the mercenary commander Giacomo Paneri, the visitor arrives at the highest vantage point of the old town centre: Piazza Masolino. The imposing XIV century Palazzo del Podestà dominates the square: note the beautiful arched two light windows and the impressive bell tower. Today the building houses the municipal archives.
The most important document is the Panicale Comune statute, which was written in Latin in the 1300s and translated into common language in 1484.
