A few steps from the Casa del Capitano del Popolo stands the Medieval Palazzetto, one of the oldest on Maggiore Island, dating back to the 13th century, built in sandstone and embellished with elegant single-lancet windows with round arches.
The building is also known as ‘Casa Bartocci’, as the island’s sculptor and ceramist Gildo Bartocci lived there for many years. Despite his international fame, he always remained very attached to his native island, moving only for the numerous exhibitions, and continued to work there, in the middle of the road, until his death, under the admiring eye of tourists.
