Initially named Madonna Regina della Luce (‘Queen of Light‘), this small church was built in 1940; it is granted in usufruct to the parish, but is owned by the University of Perugia.
Stella Maris (Star of the Sea) is one of the oldest titles for the Virgin Mary, used to emphasize Mary’s role as the North Star for Christians; with this title, the Madonna is invoked as the guide and protector of those who travel.

The church has a large paved churchyard with seats and cypresses. The furniture and the altar come from the parish church of Gioiella.
The main facade is in brick and gabled. The door has a small decorative gable. The back is with tuff masonry.
