Church and Bell tower of Santa Maria Assunta – Paciano

Church

The church of Santa Maria Assunta seems to have been built with the help of the Benedictine monks, who lived with the poor farmers in the mountains of Petrarvella and Pausillo.
In 1929 a fire caused serious damage to the interior of the church to the point that it was necessary to repaint it in its entirety.

The bell tower is also worth a visit, it stands out on the parish church and is made up of three bells (the largest, the middle and the last). Until 60 years ago, the bell tower (now electrically powered) was – together with the municipal one inside the town – the most effective and widespread means of communication for farmers in the fields.
