The Church of San Cristoforo – in the hamlet of Piazzano di Tuoro sul Trasimeno – is located 310 meters above sea level, on the ridge of Castelnuovo, in a wonderful position overlooking the Val d’Esse.
The toponym Piazzano derives from the Latin “Plateanum” – Parade Ground – as here was probably based a contingent of soldiers in charge of controlling the underlying Roman road that led from the Val d’Esse to Castelnuovo and Tuoro.
