Church of Sant’Ansano former Santa Maria Acqua e Spinalbeto

Church of Sant’Ansano former Santa Maria Acqua e Spinalbeto

Church

The church was built after the Virgin epiphany between the end of the 15th and the beginning of the 16th centuries. Initially it was a small chapel. Under the altar of the chapel flowed a spring that gave the name to the sanctuary.

During the 17th century a bigger church was built near the original one. The only traces remaining of this sanctuary are in the documents of a pastoral visit of the 1733 during which the church is described with three altars. Apart from the altars are also cited some frescoes on the walls.
