Paleontological Museum Luigi Boldrini

Museum / place of art

The “Luigi Boldrini” Paleontological  Museum of Pietrafitta represents a unique reality in the national panorama. The collection of fossil vertebrates, dating back to the Pleistocene, is one of the richest in Italy and Europe. Since 2011, the museum bears witness to the history of lignite mining, during which the first fossil remains were uncovered. The spearhead of the collection are the 8 Mammuthus Meridionalis skeletons, whose bones were left in the position as they were found.
