The Wood has an area of 160 hectares, with a prevalence of Turkey oak, hornbeam and douglasia trees.
Area of great environmental and naturalistic value, the Wood of Piegaro was the first to have received the certification of sustainable forest management in Umbria. In fact, the forest hosts the Trace-Talking tree project, a technological innovation linked to the sustainable management of trees: through the Internet of Things, devices have been installed which provide real-time tree data for better forest management.
